What are fixed braces?
Traditional fixed braces consist of brackets, which are fixed or bonded to the cheek – or buccal – side of your teeth. They are then joined together using a metal wire.
Then rubber bands are attached or little sliding catches are closed on each individual bracket holding the wire firmly in place.
It is the gradual force created by the wire that moves your teeth into their correct position.
are they right for me?
Conventional fixed braces are a clinically proven treatment approach to align your teeth and enhance the aesthetics of your smile and can fix even the most complex orthodontic issues.
Because they are fixed to your teeth, you do not have content with losing them, forgetting to wear them or wearing them for the number of hours requires.
The braces work 24/7 and your orthodontist has total control over your treatment, the tooth movement and the result.
If you are not keen on the idea of fixed metal braces, all of our bracket systems are offered in a clear or tooth-coloured material too, which can be a great compromise for a discreet treatment option.
How does it work?
Fixed braces are easy to fit and can be done in under an hour! If you and your orthodontist have decided this is the right brace system for you then we are able to fit your braces soon after we’ve taken your pre-orthodontic records.
We fit both arches at the same time if you wish and you continue to see your orthodontist every 6-8 weeks for adjustments and wire changes.
